Differentiate bacteria on the basis of their motility, indole production and urease activity.

| Preparation | Suspend 18 gm in 950 ml of distilled water. Adjust pH to 6.8 ± 0.2 at 25 °C. Heat to boiling to dissolve completely. Dispense in 95 ml amounts into flasks. Sterilize by autoclaving at 15 lbs pressure (121 °C) for 15 minutes. Cool to about 50 - 55 °C and aseptically add 5 ml sterile 40% urea solution per 95 ml of medium. Mix well and dispense into sterile test tubes. Allow to cool in an upright position. |
| Storage | Keep dry, tightly closed and away from direct light. Storage temperature on the label: 10 °C to 30 °C. |
