Brewer Thioglycollate Medium

Brewer Thioglycollate Medium is used for testing the sterility of biological products and for isolation of aerobic and anaerobic organisms.

Range	Bacteriology Media
Composition	Formula per liter of medium: Beef infusion from 500 g 17.500 gm.; Proteose peptone 10.00 gm.; Sodium chloride 5.000 gm.; Sodium Thioglycollate 0.500 gm.; Dipotassium Phosphate 2,000 gm.; Methylene Blue 0.002 gm.; Dextrose 5.000 gm.; Final pH (at 25°C) 7.2 ± 0.2
Preparation	Suspend 40.5 g of Brewer Thioglycollate Medium in 1000 ml of distilled water. Boil to dissolve the medium completely. Dispense in tubes or in suitable containers as desired and sterilize by autoclaving at 15 lbs. pressure (121°C) for 15 minutes.
Storage	BioScien Brewer thioglycollate medium are stable until expiration date stated on label when properly stored at 10-30°C.
Appearance	BioScien Brewer thioglycollate medium is light yellow coloured homogeneous free flowing powder. If there are any physical changes, discard the medium. Prepared medium appearance: Media should not be used if there are any signs of deterioration (shrinking, cracking, or discoloration), and contaminations.
